Chapter Five

Holy crap! This couldn’t be happening to me. Sky took my jacket and it was Prada! That was a joke by the way. Brad got jokes. Well, some really lame jokes. Anyways, Sky took my jacket and he left a big clue for me to find. The seat was soaking wet from last night. That meant that he was real like me or for a few minutes, he was real like everyone else. Why? Because he took my jacket and then disappear into thin air! Now, I didn’t know what Sky was. Was he real or a ghost? I took a deep breath. No. I wasn’t going back to doubting myself and analyzing everything. Sky was Sky. I started my car and took out my cell phone. When I found Kevin’s name on my contact list, I hit the call button. He picked up after three rings.

“Sup, Brad?”

Kevin sounded cheerful. That was a good sign. I didn’t need a mentally unstable Kevin right now. I needed a stable Kevin. Slowly, I drove down the driveway and into the street. “I’m heading to your house right now. You left already?” I prayed and hoped that he was still home. I really needed to talk to him about Sky.

“No. I’m just finishing breakfast. Let me wait for you at the corner.”

“Thanks, Kev. See you in a few.” I hung up and turned to my passenger seat, smiling happily. “Looks like I’m going to learn a little more about you soon, Sky.”

Great! Now I was talking to myself, or was I talking to an angel? Anyway, I hit the gas pedal and sped down the street. A few blocks later, I found Kevin waiting for me at the corner of his street. I had never been so happy to see him in my life. Hopefully, Kevin knew something about Sky. Kevin’s face lit up when he saw my car. He was definitely in a really good mood. Thank God! When I parked in front of him, he immediately ran to the passenger door. He opened it and stepped inside. Suddenly, he jumped out again. “Dude! Why is your seat wet?”

Holy crap! “Sorry man, I left the window open last night. It’s early morning dew.”

“Not cool, man.” He closed the passenger door and jumped in the backseat instead. “Close your windows next time.”

I smiled, watching him from the rearview mirror. “I will, Kev.” I needed to ask him now that he was all cheerful, so I started the car again and drove to school. “Kev? Can I ask you a question?”

Kevin snorted. “C’mon, man. You know you can ask me anything.”

Hopefully, he doesn’t regret that statement later. I took a deep breath. “It’s about Sk―the Lake View Ghost.”

Blood immediately drained from his face, leaving it pale and lifeless. He gulped and nodded. Great! I had to work with a scared Kevin now.

“What about him?” His voice was so low that I barely heard him.

Perfect! Kevin was scared, but I needed to learn more about Sky.
